We Are Not Farms – But Sometimes We Play Them On Tour
This month the original Willie Wisely Trio is doing four back-to-back dates in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
We start out with a gig at Skalski’s Farm in Northfield — the city in which many years ago I walked through a mirror, figuratively.
It involves the heiress to the world’s largest distillery fortune, an acid party, either my brother or my sister, and an abortion — but not in that order. It’s all true, but I digress.
Everyone is welcome to Skalski’s Farm, but you gotta request an invitation at wisely_at_mac.com.
And because every gig must out do the next, an after-concert pool party starts at 9:30pm.
In an appropriate return to form, The Trio shall challenge guests to a game of water polo with Greg’s trombone. We beat Rex Daisy, National Dynamite, Steeplejack, The Hang Ups and East Germany in the ’94 Olympics!
Next, we travel to play Madison at, Mike’s Park Place on the near east side. Mike’s showcasing the Trio by throwing a neighborhood party. It’s a Sunday afternoon gig. Again, request an invitation at wisely_at_mac.com.
After that we stop by the Trio’s lumber-baron Victorian headquarters, Tuft’s Mansion, in Neillsville for our annual outdoor show. Trust me, you know where Neillsville is.
And last, we visit ourselves upon The Icehouse in Minneapolis, for a home-town finale with an early solo set by yours truly — followed by the full clobber of the road-tested Trio.
Be forewarned, on a tour last summer we played 5 sets of music, in 3 cities, within 33 hours. By the final show we were gonzo — I mean the stage banter was the awesomest anyone ever heard. In fact, someone died of laughter. Not theirs. Mine.
A Little History ::
The Trio started as a band in 1989. To celebrate 23 years of excruciating musical pain, I submit this Flashback Video Playlist of vintage Trio shows, sorry none from Northfield.
The first video is from the CD release party for our first album “Raincan” in 1992 at the now defunct Ruby’s Cabaret in Minneapolis.
Dig this insane band. Nothing changes.
More updated show details like set times and ticket prices are on our Gig Page. But here’s the gist:
Sat. 7/27 – Skalski’s Farm, Northfield, MN – early evening set
Sun. 7/28 – Mike’s Park Place, Madison, WI – afternoon set
Mon. 7/29 – Tuft’s Mansion, Neillsville, WI – early evening set
Tue. 7/30 – The Icehouse, Minneapolis, MN – 9pm set
See you at all four. Bring a suit and towels and a pitch fork.
